1 – Discover Vienna’s Hidden Gems

Vienna is more than just about landmarks. When choosing things to do in Vienna you can choose the way how to immerse yourself into this culture to truly feel the city. One of the examples of places to visit is Hundertwasserhaus though it’s also a landmark but not as famous. Among other things to do in Vienna, I would suggest you wander through its streets in the Neubau district where you can see a lot of coffee shops, restaurants and cultural centres.
To recommend you certain places that you can also enjoy I have created this little list(feel free to click on the names of the places to get directions):
- Raimundhof – a passage through several yards with shops.
- Another Passage through the yards: Schottendurchhaus
- Judenplatz – this square has some charm and is worth a visit as well as nearby streets.
- A nice place next to the canal to chill
- Hundertwasser house
2 – Go For A Hike

Overall, Vienna is not only about the 1st district but has a lot to offer. I would suggest visiting 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th districts too. If you got a lot of time and would like to go for a hike then there is a tower from which you can get a nice view of the city or alternatively take a bike ride on Donauinsel.
Donauinsel is an artificial island in the middle of the Danube River, that stretches for kilometres from one edge of the city to another. During the summertime, it’s the place for locals to have a nice time in nature, go for a walk or sunbathe, festivals are happening on the island and there is a lot of fun to be found.
3 – Embrace the Local Culture

Immerse yourself in the vibrant local culture to truly experience Vienna’s authenticity. Attend a classical concert, relax in a cosy coffee house or walk through the parks like Stadtpark or Prater.
To engage with the friendly locals, hear their stories, and let these authentic moments enrich your Vienna journey, I would offer to visit cheaper and smaller cafes.
For example Kleines Cafe or Tanzcafé Jenseits.
Another place I would definitely recommend is Kaffee Alt Wien
4 – Timing is Everything

Vienna transforms with each season, offering a diverse array of experiences. Whether you’re captivated by the blooming spring gardens, warm summer evenings, vibrant autumn colours, or the winter markets, choose the time that aligns with your preferences. Each season adds a unique touch to your Vienna adventure.
In The Winter, there are beautiful
Of course, summertime is still the best when streets and parks are filled with people spending their free time outside. But if you like skiing then in the wintertime you can take a day to go to one of the ski resorts next to the city.
In the summertime, take a swim in Alte Donau, this is one of the things to do in Vienna that locals usually enjoy during hot summer days
5 – Things To Do in Vienna: Savor Culinary Delights

Vienna’s culinary scene is a sensory delight for any traveller. Indulge in local delicacies, from the iconic Sachertorte in a traditional coffee house to a delightful meal in a picturesque vineyard. Let your taste buds guide you through the city’s flavours, adding a flavorful dimension to your travel experience.
If you come in the winter, enjoy some Lebkuchen, and anytime you can have a piece of Apfelstrudel with Vanilla sauce or Whipped cream, and of course a cup of Wiener Melange
