Street photos of Düsseldorf

I always wanted to share my photography and not only tutorials and articles about learning photography. So in this post, I want to share street photos of Düsseldorf. I have been taking pictures for over 8 years and always have been eager to learn more. I can see that the progress I made is quite significant and some 5 years ago my pictures were weak and badly edited.

Back then I liked to do street photography but later I found that there’s a ceiling in this genre. If you shoot people, of course, you can have more stories behind the images but these will be also quite limited. Limited to the stories happening on the streets. The photos that I really like are the ones that I create in specific locations and are more abstract and out of place. I like to convey ideas through photography rather than just capturing the surroundings. Just pictures of the streets are something I rarely do nowadays.

Still, it’s interesting to practice and find new angles. Doing street photography can help to train your eye for composition and light. I remember I even wanted to get just a viewfinder to walk around just checking the frames but without taking pictures. If you have one – do that. Even without taking pictures, you can learn just by seeing.

Due to my lifestyle, I have to travel to different cities for photoshoots. I take pictures of life in these cities and would like to share them here.

Street photos of Düsseldorf

So after finishing a photoshoot I had an hour and a half of spare time and I had a short walk in Düsseldorf where I took some of these street shots.

I deliberately blurred this picture because the waving pattern of the tiles in Düsseldorf was a bit trippy and I wanted to enchance this effect. I often take imperfect images when the idea of the frames requires me to brake the photographic rules

I shoot on sony A7rII and what is interesting is that in silent shooting mode it distorts the moving objects. Because of that, the tram in this shot got tilted but I actually like it a lot

The lighting was quite boring unfortunately, most of the time it was cloudy and the light was quite flat.

That’s it for now! Today on 18.10.22 I’m gonna have another shoot in Düsseldorf and will update this post later with some more street photos.

Update with new Street photos from Düsseldorf!

As I promised I have been to Düsseldorf a second time and this time I had more time to take pictures. I also used some of the filters that I will describe below.

Street photo from Düsseldorf, germany
I have taken this shot with a star filter, it creates this shining on the golden thing

This one splits the shot like a kaleidoscope

I liked this angle and specifically waited for some people to appear there
Street photos from Dusseldorf: A fence and flowers
This could be very meaningful. But I would have to make up the meaning since I just liked how it looked when passing by
Man under a bridge in Dusseldorf
this is rather a cliche of course but I still took this picture

Another example of the use of the star filter
double exposure street photograph
A double exposure. I have an app for double-exposure shots on camera. Although it is the same as when you put layers over in photoshop.
street photo from Düsseldorf after
I liked the way these lights were arranged in a tunnel and took a shot cutting out everything else. This is a good example of how to improve your photography composition.
street photo from Düsseldorf before
the shot initially looked like this and the tunnel itself was quite usual.

As I described before in the article, I discovered that moving objects get tilted in silent shootings mode. I accidentally discovered that I can use it for a fun way of distorting shots.

These shots aren’t special but I will try to do something with this later.
